I never thought buying Cory’s suit would be very exciting, but it turned into quite an adventure! He wanted a sand-colored suit for our Maui wedding. Try finding one of those around here in February! We went everywhere with no luck. Our last stop was Mario’s. That’s where we met Paul. Cory and I connected with him right away and he was more than willing to spend as much time as needed to get us the perfect suit. This 2-button Dolce & Gabbana suit fit like a charm. It cost $1400 (that includes all the alterations and wine). The John Varvatos sandals are also from Mario’s. They cost $135.

A girl dreams about her wedding day her whole life. Then when it happens, you pray that everything goes off without a hitch. Our wedding was perfect. Of course we couldn’t have done it alone. Our parents, friends, family and a fabulous seamstress played a huge role. Beverly Hunnicutt designed and made my dress. I went to her back in July with a picture of a dress that I kinda sorta liked. She took the picture, modified it, and created this masterpiece. The bias cut gown with a cool twisty knot is made of silk crepe. It has a side zipper and a revealing back. I am so extremely impressed with Beverly’s work! She does everything from custom wedding dresses to hemming jeans. This dress cost $1500 (that includes the fabric, sewing time, all the fittings & alterations).

There is something to be said for an artist who creates clothing. Some might say that all designers are artists and that might be true, but sometimes I come across designs that are true works of art. Wai-Ching clothing fits that bill. One afternoon I was checking my personal email and surfing the web (at my real job) when I came across this Seattle line. Beautiful. Unique. Unusual… All words that popped into my head. Chrissy Wai Ching Leung is the artist and she hand-dyes and hand-sews each individual piece. She’ll even custom make you something. This Lollipop Top is featherstitched throughout and is incredible. It sells for $115. (FYI: I am absolutely in love with her dresses.)

Did you know there’s a thrift store in Bel Square? I’ve been shopping at the mall since I was little, and I had no idea. My mom enlightened me last weekend when she came into town for a bridal shower. I love the hidden treasures in thrift stores, so my mom suggested we go to the Overlake Service League thrift store. I had no idea this place even existed! As with any thrift store, you’ve got to sift through the racks, but let me tell you… there are some gems! I found this super-cute 1970’s-era lavender dress for $14. Yes, $14. Now I just need to find a pair of white go-go boots and I’ll have the perfect outfit!
(Side note: if you’re spring cleaning, you can donate your clothes to the shop, too).

I love getting dressed up. It reminds me of when I was a little girl playing “dress up” with my mom’s once-worn bridesmaid’s dresses. I felt like a princess! Now that I’m a few years older I still love dressing up, but now I know that pink taffeta isn’t meant for happy hour with the girls. Let me introduce Composure by local designer Kelly Chon. Her debut collection is feminine and beautiful - and all black. This girly, frilly, lacy number is perfect for the deck at BluWater during the week or on a hot date Saturday night. This is at Bliss for $110.

Last weekend my fiance’ Cory and I were walking through the Alderwood Nordstrom when we came across this crazy contraption in the Rail. Well, it turns out it was the local company, Casual Industries, making T’s. These are definitely Seattle. From the skyline, to the cranes to the mountains, CI captures what Seattle is about. Very cool. Cory bought this shirt, freshly-printed at Nordstrom, for $30. You can also find their wears at Evo in Fremont. (Thanks, Kirk, for the tip on Evo!)

My fiance’ is not so happy with me this week. He went to Dallas on a business trip, and naturally I went shopping with my friend Andrea. She has self control. I don’t. We were walking along Ballard Ave, and I found this really cute thin-waled courduroy jacket by Iris at Damsalfly. It was only $32 and I couldn’t resist. I love the fitted cut and the multiple pockets. Well, let’s just say that our walk around Ballard didn’t end there. We had to go check out the new spring merchandise at Merge, and I ended up buying another great jacket by Jarbo for $165. Of course, when the fiance’ got home I got lectured on how I’m supposed to write about the cool stuff for Seattle Chic, not buy it. Um. yeah.

Ladies, a couple of weeks ago I posted about Charmed lingerie boutique on the Eastside. I got to thinking last night that maybe people didn’t make a trip over there and are scrambling for something sexy to wear tomorrow night. Zovo Lingerie at U Village is another great bra & panty boutique. This Samantha Change lace cami sells for $120. Matching panties are $78. Flat tummy not included.

Hey ladies, there’s a new boutique in town. Hip Zephyr opened up not too long ago on Phinney Ridge. Yay for more boutiques on Phinney! It’s a small corner space full of great clothes and fabulous accessories. Need a new belt, HZ has plenty to choose from. They’ve also got the sought after Nation T-shirts that, what I’ve heard, are not too easy to come by these days. They cost $72. So if you’re looking for new spring clothes, this place is worth a visit, or two.

Alright ladies, let’s talk a minute. As we all know, summer is just around the corner, and we need to get ready for bikini season. Well, I’m sure your guy will tell you that there’s a special day between then and now that is just as (if not more) important. It’s called Valentine’s Day. It’s supposed to be one of the most romantic days of the year, and the little red bow on your head won’t cut it this year - you need something sexy. Charme Lingerie Boutique in Kirkland is just the place for you. This sweet black number with hearts all over and a slit up the side sells for $64. Not your style? No problem. Their selection varies from one end of the spectrum to the other.
