I sure wish I had somewhere to wear this USE unused pleat dress that I found at Merge! Pat (the owner) says that this number is not for the fashion faint-of-heart and I can see why. It’s cut short and sassy. Add a pair of spiky heels and you’ve got yourself a great night-on-the-town dress. It sells for $195.

My holiday calendar is starting to get pretty full. Parties, lunches, gift exchanges, etc. The list goes on and on. Of course I want to look my best for each occasion which means I need several cocktail dresses. As I was driving past the Frock Shop on Phinney Ridge the other day I saw this super sassy red dress hanging on the rack outside. It’s brushed cotton with satin trim and gold topstitching which is perfect for the holidays! It was originally $68 and has been marked down to $48!

Last weekend my friend Laura and I decided that we needed some new fall clothing. We went to just about every single boutique in Fremont looking for some autumn inspiration. I found this really cute creamy/butter yellowy cowlneck top by Pathway at Horseshoe. The contrasting elastic band at the bottom hugs the hips and doesn’t budge. I hate it when tops inch their way up and I have to keep tugging at them. The fabric is lightweight and perfect under a cute fall jacket. This top also comes in black w/gray elastic. It is $58.

OK, ladies, how often do you buy new panties? I’m not talking about the sassy date-night numbers, I’m talking about the wear’em to work kind. Personal question, I know. I think there are two philosophies when practical panty shopping: 1. Run to the sales rack, pick out whatever fits and know that you’ll have to come back in a couple of months to replace them or 2. Every girl must have a little black dress in her closet. How boring is that? I, for one, do not want something that will make me blend into the crowd. I want something with character and personality. This black ruffle-neck dress I found at Juniper fits into that category. The edges are raw cut , the ruffles aren’t perfect, and the neck line is low - but not too low. Wear it out for drinks with the girls or to your next cocktail party. This Elise dress by Sir is $330.

When I saw this little striped dress in the window of Tweed, I thought, “WOW! That’s really cute.” So I went inside to check it out but t didn’t look cute at all on the rack. I thought back to what my mom used to tell me, “Just try it on. It looks much different on you than on the hanger.” This dress proves her point because this is a really great dress. Not to mention the stripes are slimming and make short people look taller. This cute comfy cotton number by Sweetees is $89. Plus everything in the store is on sale. All Penguin merchandise is 50% off!

I read in a recent article that the average woman owns 11 pair of jeans. WOW. I own a lot fewer than that. In fact, I have a confession. I hate jeans. I absolutely LOATHE having to put denim on. It’s not comfortable and it never fits me correctly. Then I found The Proportion of Blu jeans. Both Merge in Ballard and Polite Society downtown carry them. They really do fit great! (OK, they were a bit long, but nothing my favorite seamstress couldn’t fix). Pat at Merge said that she went through her first two size runs in 9 days. Yes, they really are that good. Even I like them. They sell for $210.

I never thought buying Cory’s suit would be very exciting, but it turned into quite an adventure! He wanted a sand-colored suit for our Maui wedding. Try finding one of those around here in February! We went everywhere with no luck. Our last stop was Mario’s. That’s where we met Paul. Cory and I connected with him right away and he was more than willing to spend as much time as needed to get us the perfect suit. This 2-button Dolce & Gabbana suit fit like a charm. It cost $1400 (that includes all the alterations and wine). The John Varvatos sandals are also from Mario’s. They cost $135.

A girl dreams about her wedding day her whole life. Then when it happens, you pray that everything goes off without a hitch. Our wedding was perfect. Of course we couldn’t have done it alone. Our parents, friends, family and a fabulous seamstress played a huge role. Beverly Hunnicutt designed and made my dress. I went to her back in July with a picture of a dress that I kinda sorta liked. She took the picture, modified it, and created this masterpiece. The bias cut gown with a cool twisty knot is made of silk crepe. It has a side zipper and a revealing back. I am so extremely impressed with Beverly’s work! She does everything from custom wedding dresses to hemming jeans. This dress cost $1500 (that includes the fabric, sewing time, all the fittings & alterations).

There is something to be said for an artist who creates clothing. Some might say that all designers are artists and that might be true, but sometimes I come across designs that are true works of art. Wai-Ching clothing fits that bill. One afternoon I was checking my personal email and surfing the web (at my real job) when I came across this Seattle line. Beautiful. Unique. Unusual… All words that popped into my head. Chrissy Wai Ching Leung is the artist and she hand-dyes and hand-sews each individual piece. She’ll even custom make you something. This Lollipop Top is featherstitched throughout and is incredible. It sells for $115. (FYI: I am absolutely in love with her dresses.)
