Accessories
The combination of colored glass and metal is incredibly beautiful and the San Damian collection excels at the combination. Worn by top models and actresses such as Evangeline Lilly, this Seattle designer is making a name for himself nationwide. Each piece is set in sterling silver and handcrafted to perfection. The process they use to fuse the glass makes the pendant nearly impossible to break. The glass is gorgeous and reflects different colors in different lights. You can find the San Damian collection at In Vogue in Bellevue.
Prices start around $70.

Let’s say for a minute that you’re all dressed up for that holiday party and that clunky watch of yours doesn’t quite “go” with that little red dress you’re wearing. What’s a girl to do? Thanks to Tutu you can actually take a time piece with you without weighing down your wrist. The little watch face has a clip on the back and the hands are glow in the dark. Clasp it to the inside of your clutch and you’ll always know what time it is. Or better yet, clip it onto a long necklace for a great accessory and conversation piece. This round Tutu with a mother-of-pearl face and Swarovski crystals at the 3,6,9 & 12 (CZ encompass the piece) is gorgeous. You can find these at Posh on Main in Bellevue starting at a couple hundred dollars.

I don’t know about you, but I’m surprised my ears survived this week’s brief, but bitter cold spell. Braving the freezing temps, I went in search of a wool hat (overly dramatic, I know). In no time I came upon Seattle’s own Coal Headwear. The four-year old company is known internationally for creating quality hats, gloves and scarves. A lot of their pieces are hand knitted or crocheted and many are unisex. Ladies, check out Tweed in Greenwood for Coal and guys, check out Blackbird in Ballard. They range in price from $20-$45.

Big chunky cocktail rings are in and I want one. The only problem is I don’t want just any old ring. Last week at the Thorn trunk show at iIlli I tried on a few Bruce Magnotti designs. These gems are cut to perfection and many are set in hand-casted gold (which I’m told gives the gold a more substantial feel). This pink scratched beauty caught my eye and fit on my finger. Magnotti uses all sorts of gems like rubies, emeralds, diamonds and sapphires. They sell for a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

The days are getting shorter and there’s a hint of winter in the air. This means one thing: the rain is almost here. But don’t worry, you can keep the sun shining year-round with Maisha Barnett’s line Twine Design. These sunflower pins will remind you that spring really isn’t so far away. Her knitted scarves, hats and handbags can be found at Jaywalk and Missi Lu. The pins are $5 and will be in stores soon.

Potluck Paris is one of my favorites for fashion jewelry. Straight from Parisian artists, the chunky rings, hammered necklaces and other adornments have a unique look. Thanks to the mixing of several metals these pieces look a lot like pewter.. This ring is gorgeous and so versatile with the multitude of colors. If you’re not into the multi-color, not to worry, you can also get it in blue, red, clear, amber, and on and on. The pave-style Swarovski crystals add a richness to the ring. It sells for $65. Buy it online or at several local shops including Watson Kennedy and Tweed.

From Italian Leather bags by Not Rational to vintage jewelry, Hitchcock specializes in unique-to-Seattle items. This necklace by Lulu Frost is really a piece of history. The 5 that dangles down is an original room number from the Plaza Hotel in New York. Cool! They only have a few left, so if you want one, get over there. They sell for $325. And in case you’re wondering, the bag I mentioned in the last SeattleChic newsletter is $355. If you need a quick reminder of what I’m talking about click here.

I love sunglasses. Even more, I love designer sunglasses. A few shops around town carry a small selection of certain brands, but now there’s a new boutique right in Pacific Place focused on one thing: shades. The Solstice Sunglass Boutique opened a few months ago. They carry Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Maui Jim, to just name a few. If you’re like my sister & can never find the right pair, one of their trained stylists they will help you with a personal frame fitting! These white Marc Jacobs sell for $275.

Not all parents march to the beat of the Baby Gap, that’s why kid clothing store Pop Tots is so popular. From AC/DC onesies to Blondie “The Tide is High” T-shirts, this shop is for those of us who still can’t get enough of the ’80s rock scene. Just in from the ultra-cool NYC venue that still hosts those metalhead throwback bands and punk rock faithfuls, this CBGB infant beanie is $14. Thanks Beth & Jennifer for tipping me on this shop!

You buy the best shoes, you sport the hottest fashions, so why not show the world just what kind of gal (or guy) you are!? Whether you’re a diva, more of a beast or a jet setter, dress up that drab capuccino with the stylish sleeve by Seattle’s own Cup Couture. Not only will your hands thank you for not burning them each morning, mother nature will also benefit. They say a single Cupcoat saves 6-10 pounds of paper waste a year! Fittingly, the sleeve shown is “Kate” from the Diva collection and sells for $9.99 on their website or at Metropolitan Markets.
