The latest styles from Fashion First

August 3rd, 2007

Sequins, short skirts and skinny jeans were just a few of the highlights from last night’s Fashion First Seattle boutique fashion show. Models strutted down the runway in fall fashions from 15 local boutiques and designers. Of course there was a lot of black, but shops are showing a lot more bright, vivid colors than I was expecting, three-quarter length sleeves, as well as great trench coats. Chunky accessories are still hot, as well as big bags and flashy clutches. Shoes always make a great statement and the leopard print pumps, knee-high patent leather boots and sparkly stilettos were no exception. A big highlight for the ladies was the Marqsmen collection worn by local athletes and celebrities.

I was very impressed with the diversity of the clothes — it’s obvious that Seattle has eclectic taste and there’s a shop for everyone. Seattle boutiques have a lot to be proud of and Seattle shoppers have a lot to look forward to next season. Those participating were: La Ree, Polite Society, illi, Posh on Main, The Finerie, Carmilia’s, Ragamoffyn’s, Marqsmen, The Art Institute of Seattle, Lizzie Parker, Tatters, Renee Bassetti w/Pine IV Denim, Alhambra, Riveted and Sway & Cake. Shoe Fly also provided quite a few shoes for the show.

Kudos to Joan Kelly, of Joan & Jared Events, for pulling off a fantastic show despite a venue change two weeks before the event!

Thank you for the comment on chunky jewelry still hot. It was a blast designing for this event.

My first experience working with Joan, and Lizzie were fantastic.
