Nordstrom Anniversary Sale strategies —

July 19th, 2007

Nordy's saleThe big-damned-deal Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts tomorrow – Friday July 20th. If you haven’t been to the opening of an Anniversary sale you’re in for a, um, treat. Women (and a few men) are lined up ready to run to their favorite department. Keep in mind that these women will not let anyone or anything get in their way. It reminds me of the news stories you see of the day after Thanksgiving sale at Wal Mart.

There are several strategies to the sale -
1. Run to your favorite department, pick up as much as you can in the shortest amount of time and get to the dressing room. The lines at the dressing rooms can become an hour long quickly.

2. Grab the credit card with the highest limit and buy whatever merchandise looks good. Make sure to buy it in several colors and sizes (just in case). Take the stuff home, try it on in the comfort of your bedroom and take back whatever you don’t like.

3. Go online first thing in the morning and figure out what you want. When you get to the store you’ll know what you want and you don’t have to spend extra time searching the racks. (If you can wait for the clothes to be delivered & you’re sure of your size, go ahead and order online. But you’ll miss out on the crazed shoe shoppers — that’s GREAT people watching).

4. Go to Nordstrom today (Thursday) and get to know one of the sales people. If you’re nice (and if they’re nice) they’ll hold merchandise for you or at least show you where certain items will be located. Tomorrow they’ll be more likely to help you out.

5. Wait a few days and hope everything hasn’t been sold.

The doors open Friday at 7am. Yes it’s early but grab a latte and you’ll be fine. Just don’t spill it in the rush. Good luck!
