Solar hiking

February 19th, 2007

The other day I drove by a brand new shop on Dexter Ave. called Goods for the Planet. Now I’m no granola-eating, birkenstock-wearing, eco girl, but I do try to be as environmentally friendly as I can, so I stopped in. They have tons of merchandise, but I immediately zoned in on this solar-paneled backpack that generates electricity as you walk. It’s made with sustainable products, and it sports a flexible solar panel. They claim it’s the most advanced solar energy technology around and even military tested! So the next time you’re going up Wallace Falls or attempting Mt. Si, why not make electricity as soon as that sun hits your back and charge up your cell phone on the trail. This bag sells for $240.
