It’s time to start thinking about the holiday party season. Of course, you’ll need several dresses to make it through the multitude of soirees you’re sure to be invited to. I found a great one by Chaiken at Merge, the newest, hippest boutique in Ballard. (It’s only 3 weeks old). This dress has a brown velvet and cream lace top with a brown satin bottom. You know the only thing wrong with satin dresses? They tend to cling in all the wrong places — in other words, they show off the junk in the trunk. Well, this design hides all that. With gathered fabric above the behind it falls beautifully and doesn’t cling. This dress sells for $475.
